Sweet Girls

Caroline, Lydia and Charlotte being so sweet together.  Eloise (Caroline and Charlotte's new baby sister was watching from afar).  In 4 more weeks there will be a new baby boy to join the girls!

Willie Bear and Galveston

This past weekend, Lydia got to bring home the class pet...a large brown bear named Willie.  We took him everywhere and took many pictures of Willie Bear.  Lydia wanted to dress just like him.  We took him to eat ice cream and then sushi.  We buckled him in the car seat.  Blair took Lydia, Brendan and Kiernan to Galveston for the night on Saturday.  There Willie Bear got to see the cruise ships, ride and drive the boat and fish off the dock!  Blair got some great pictures for Lydia's class to see.  Kiernan wasn't as impressed with Willie Bear as we all were...

Update: January - March 2014 (part 2)

More updates with the Arterburys:

Lydia was so lucky to get to go to 2 Princess birthday parties...she loved Belle at Evann's party

At Layton's party, Princess Ariel came to visit.  Lydia is dressed up as Anna from Frozen (she's a little obsessed with this movie lately).

Lydia is showing off her new jewels at the Princess party: earrings, necklace, rings...

For my birthday this year, we went and ate Greek food and my Mom made a delicious lemon cake.  I've been craving lemon desserts recently.  I've started my 8th month of pregnancy here.  Our baby boy is growing great and so am I.

Honey took Lydia on a special outing to the Alley Theater to see The Wizard of Oz.  Lydia had never been to a real live play before and apparently she loved it!  I'm glad she's into the arts.

Here is a great comparison of Lydia and Kiernan that Cousin Lindsey put together.  They are both around 6-7 months in this picture and chewing on the same toy.  They look nothing alike.

Update: January - March 2014 (part 1)

Even though I haven't blogged since Christmas, there has been a lot going on with us.  Check out all the pictures and captions about what we've (really Lydia) has been up to...

Lydia receives 7 tutus for christmas and puts them on all at the same time!  She loves dress up, whether in Princess dresses or tutus.

Nana's birthday dinner: Lydia helps Nana choose her birthday mini bundt cake with Aunt Mary

Mom turned 65 this year so we celebrated with wine.

Cousin Lindsey took Lydia to the zoo on MLK day.

Snow day at school: Lydia loved the snow and sledding

Lydia and Charlotte played with the snow and ate a lot of it.

Daddy helped Lydia with the sleds down the hill.

Lydia and Kiernan hanging out.  Lydia is a great big cousin to Kiernan.

Lydia is really into princesses and uses this sheet as Rapunzel's hair.  She loves to run around with the sheet on her head playing "Tangled".

January and February were really cold months this year.  Lydia would wake up and go make sure Harley was covered with a blanket no matter where she was in the morning (usually on the chair or couch).  This particular morning, I walked in and asked what was going on.  Lydia had turned on the tv all by herself and said that Harley really wanted to watch the Olympics.

Lydia got her new "big sister bed".  We got her a queen size frame and moved her bed into the middle of the room like a big girl.  She has loved it and it's really helped her sleeping (meaning she rarely gets up in the middle of the night now).

Another cold morning where she made sure Harley was warm with blankets.  I know Harley loves it as she doesn't move a muscle when Lydia wraps her up.

Valentine's Day: she looks so old in this picture!

On Valentine's Day, a neighbor got a special visit from Elmo.  Lydia, Emma and Layton loved his visit.

We went to a fundraiser at the Butterfly Museum and Lydia had fun.  This picture was taken as we were waiting for our car to go home...obviously she was upset we were leaving all the fun.

Lydia at the Children's Museum.  Cousin Lindsey took her on a no school day and she had a blast.

Rodeo Time: Lydia loved the livestock show - she loved meeting Bevo too!

At Lydia's school auction: We had a lot of fun with our friends (you can totally tell I'm 7 month pregnant here)

Lydia on "Go Texan Day": those boots are her Uncle Paul's boots from when he was her age.  She loves them!

Lydia started swim lessons at the end of February:  She smiles so big when she jumps in!

Who is the most photogenic here?  Of course it's Kiernan!  She's the happiest baby and so sweet.  She loves to cuddle and snuggle.  So does Lydia in this picture.  And yes, I'm getting bigger and bigger.

Santa!!

Saturday, December 14, 2013

We had breakfast with Santa last weekend and got some great pics by the tree.  The Santa pics didn't come out so well there, but we got a great one at Berings this weekend.

She loves Santa and if we are somewhere where he is, we have to go at least wave to him.  He's really been great at all the locations and waves back or starts up a conversation with Lydia.

So far, she has told him that she wants candy, candy canes, a bell, dinosaurs and airplanes.  We will see what she gets from him this year.  The dinosaurs came into mind after the boy in front of her said that's what he wanted.

Our "Baby Moon" to Panama

So we decided to go on a baby moon to Panama City, Panama.  I've read some about the canal and really wanted to experience it.  Plus it's a short flight to another country with tons of history.  We went for 4 nights last week.  It was a lot of fun!  We took a boat tour of the canal, saw the old historic part of town and then just hung out at the pool the rest of the trip.  The city wasn't like anything I was envisioning.  It is much like New York, meaning it has many skyscrapers and it overlooks the water (and the driving is ridiculous).
The canal tour was pretty amazing.  We got to go through 2 locks of the 3 and actually experience the boat trip.  We went through the Great Divide too.  Blair and I were reading The Path Between the Seas and it was neat to experience all the history we were reading about.  We had some good discussions at the end of the days about what we saw and how it was portrayed in the book.  The canal is basically like a water elevator.
The rest of the trip we just hung out at the hotel pool which overlooked the Pacific Ocean.  The weather was very close to Houston heat and humidity weather during the day and felt pretty good at night.  Needless to say I didn't need a jacket.

Pulling into the lock (water is high)

Getting to the front of the lock by the doors (water is high)

Seeing the doors to the lock again (water is high)

Behind us are two sailboats and a small cruise ship in the same lock (the red tanker is in the lock beside us) - notice the water is still high

The water starts to descend down and the doors become more visible.

The water is still descending down...large doors are revealed.

The set of doors open to the river.

This ship was huge!

On our morning walk through downtown - the skyscrapers are so plentiful.

View of downtown from the old town center where the history lies.

View from our infinity pool...looking out onto the Pacific Ocean with a view of the outskirts of town (more condos and skyscrapers being built).
